Lion's Gate

September 3-5, 2022
Saturday, Sunday, MonDay

Intention written from Lea Falkenhagen ::

The creation of an Earthen sanctuary/temple/medicine space created for women (and eventually men and women both), that is built and led by women, with the support of beloved men.

My long term dream is for all of us to create and share many spaces like these for the benefit of our community as spaces for regular ⭕️ gathering, self-tending, red-tenting, healing, magic, and medicine.

This building process requires (and has already initiated) massive deconstruction/structural dismantling, a breaking down of patriarchal residue that no longer serves me, my family, or the Earth. It is purging my womb of the multi-generational holding of centuries of trauma, isolation, and oppression (my own and others, both male and female), and it is a reclaiming of my personal power, Earth and womb wisdom, sovereignty, creativity, power and worth.

This isn't just the building of a house, but the building of a Temple. Our thoughts, our words, our actions, are all significant forms of praise and intention woven into the creation of this place. This structure is here to hold what we are holding in our lives. What are you calling into your inner world right now? Within your families, your communities? We'll share together, and work and play and heal together.

meals

Salmon Lunch provided if you sign up (so we know how many to cook for).
You may want to bring your own snacks or a potluck item.
* Please bring your own plates, bowls, cups, utensils. *

Timing

10 AM - 5 PM each day
On the first day especially - Saturday -
*plan to arrive around 9:45 so you have time to park, get settled, and we can get started at 10. This way we can all have a time to share/ check in, have a shared ritual around the space, and I can teach about the materials and the mixing process all at once.

Coming and going throughout the days is also okay, and we'd love to have you for only a couple hours rather than not at all, so come when you can, but if you're planning to be there all day, please be present for 10AM start.

Kids

There is no formally organized child care. This will be all outside play with other kids present. We'll go over outside boundaries in person.

Other Details

Bring clothes you don't mind getting muddy and potentially stained. It's fun to touch all of the materials, but if you think you'll want gloves, sturdy vinyl gloves are best rather than leather or gloves that are partially fabric. There may be some handling of dry clay during this part of the build, having a mask for dust may be necessary for some folks during some times (I'll have a few). We'll also sometimes be handling straw, which can cause allergies for some.

This work party will be entirely outdoors and you can social distance if needed, however, there are also opportunities to be up close, dancing on a tarp mixing mud shoulder-to-shoulder with others, so if you wish to wear a facial covering for those occasions, bring what you need to make all your dreams come true. :)

Location

Port Townsend
** Address and directions will only be given upon registration (below) **

Stay updated for lion's gate - cob temple build

Even if you are a "MAYBE", using this form is the best way to stay updated with any changes or details regarding this specific event.
How much should I donate? Many teachers & Schools of Earthen Building charge an average of $100 per day for their classes. While we set up the workshops so we meet our basics for launching the project, additional funds go toward the thriving viability of this model for earthen building education, and makes the work Sustainable. Thanks!
